The Washington State University (WSU) Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences (VCS) seeks to fill a clinical or tenure-track, full-time, 12-month, renewable positions within the Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care section of its Veterinary Teaching Hospital.  The position is available at all ranks, depending upon qualifications, and is available immediately.  The position will join a team of three (3) faculty clinicians whose primary mission is clinical teaching, clinical service and scholarship in a critical unit experiencing growth opportunities. 

For those with interest in tenure-track opportunities, depending upon research background and experience, there may be an opportunity to negotiate conversion to a tenure-track position within three (3) years in rank, subject to university policy.

The successful applicants will have responsibility for participation in clinical service; clinical, laboratory, and didactic (classroom) teaching of professional veterinary students, interns, residents, and graduate students; will provide health care and service to patients of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital; will advise and consult with referring veterinarians and clients; will develop a creative, independent and/or collaborative  research program in an area related to Emergency and Critical Care; will be in direct support of an Emergency and Critical Care residency program; and will provide leadership in directing research projects for residents and graduate students.  Successful applicants must be able to communicate effectively, work collegially, and collaborate with diverse internal and external constituencies.

The candidates must possess a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree or a related foreign equivalent degree (such as a BVSc), and have completed residency training in the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care (ACVECC) by time of hire. 

Preferred qualifications include an advanced degree (Masters or PhD) in Veterinary Science or related field, a record of scholarly productivity, evidence of expertise in teaching, and evidence of accomplishments that demonstrates the potential to become an outstanding scholar and educator.
