Small Animal Medicine Specialist

An internal medicine or canine/feline medicine specialist is required to join our well-equipped, expanding multi-disciplinary specialist practice. 

Perth Veterinary Specialists is Western Australia’s largest and longest established private multi-disciplinary hospital and is known for the provision of advanced veterinary medicine.  PVS provides clients, patients and referring veterinarians with a fully integrated service with specialists in oncology, surgery, anaesthesia, dermatology and diagnostic imaging. In addition, there is a after hours’ emergency and critical care service.

PVS is fully equipped for medical investigations with a full IDEXX laboratory suite, colour flow Doppler ultrasonography, new Olympus endoscopes with Narrow Band Imaging on an Evis Exera II platform, electrocardiography, digital radiology plus on-site CT and MRI.

The medicine team is supported by a cohesive team consisting of thee fully qualified, dedicated medicine nurses, one with nearly 10 years’ experience at PVS, and a rotating intern. 

The ideal applicant will be able to be registered as a specialist in Western Australia, however, applicants who have completed their residency training may also apply. The successful applicant will be able to choose between permanent full or part time, and we would also consider an extended term (6 months) locum position if you wanted to create the perfect working holiday. 5 weeks annual leave and 2 weeks conference leave is offered with a permanent full-time position. 

Work permit/visa (sponsorship) and relocation assistance is available for the right candidate. 

Perth is blessed with a relaxed big-city atmosphere, a Mediterranean climate and pristine white beaches.  Rottnest Island (and the quokkas!), the charming Perth Hills and historic Fremantle are easy day trips.  The Swan Valley and Margaret River winery regions boast world-class food and wine and make for the perfect weekend away.  The great north west of Australia is an adventurer’s dream, with ample holiday opportunities for the campers and glampers.
