Faculty Member, Small Animal Clinical Sciences (Medical Oncology)

Applications are invited from qualified individuals for a tenure-track faculty position in Medical Oncology in the Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences. The primary responsibilities of the successful candidate include: high quality instruction in oncology to undergraduate and graduate veterinarians; organizational responsibility and participation in the clinical teaching and service programs of the Small Animal Clinic of the Veterinary Medical Centre; and development of an independent or collaborative research program with other members of the oncology team. Contributions to the continuing education of practicing veterinarians will be encouraged and expected.

The Veterinary Medical Centre at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine is currently a state-of-the-art facility AVMA and AAHA accredited primary care hospital and referral centre serving western Canada.   Specialty services and undergraduate and graduate training are offered in anesthesia, dentistry, dermatology, exotics and wildlife, internal medicine, medical imaging, oncology, ophthalmology, radiation oncology and surgery.  Advanced imaging modalities such as PET-CT, MRI, CT, fluoroscopy, and nuclear scintigraphy are available on site. The radiation oncology unit has a Varian Clinac 21EX, ARIA and Eclipse treatment planning software and staffing includes a board-certified medical oncologist, radiation oncologist and radiation therapist. Applicants must possess a DVM degree or its equivalent and must be eligible for licensure to practice veterinary medicine in Saskatchewan.  The successful candidate must be a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Oncology) or have credentials acceptable to the ACVIM (Oncology) at the time the appointment becomes effective. Possession of an advanced degree is desirable. 

Salary bands for this position for the 2020-2021 academic year are as follows:

Assistant Professor: $96,301 to $115,723; Associate Professor: $115,723 to $135,145; and Professor $135,145 to $157,804 and is negotiable based on qualifications and experience.
