Veterinary Cardiologist

Pittsburgh Veterinary Cardiology is enthusiastically seeking a third full-time cardiologist to complement our team. The hospital:

We are privately owned and practice within the greater realm of Pittsburgh Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Center, a BluePearl Veterinary Partner (PVS-EC), the largest 24/7 emergency and specialty hospital in Pennsylvania, and the preferred provider of specialty services in the area. Hospital-wide, the caseload has continuously and rapidly grown since 2008, leading to the opening of a second hospital in August 2017. We foresee all 3 cardiologists spending some/limited time in that hospital.

PVS-EC is a certified Level I Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care facility, and our 5 criticalists and 2 ECC residents routinely participate in the collaborative care of our hospitalized patients (ie. we don’t get called overnight!). Our intensive care unit is equipped with eight oxygen kennels, a high-flow oxygen unit, and two ventilators. We have easy access to a tremendous number of collaborative and brilliant specialists in internal medicine, surgery, anesthesia, medical and radiation oncology, neurology, ophthalmology, anesthesia, dermatology, dentistry, and a hospitalist. Rounding out our team are 5 skilled and dedicated cardiology technicians. PVS-EC is also one of the few facilities in the nation to house a Veterinary Social Work program, wherein our two social workers offer support to clients and employees in need.

The equipment:

We are properly equipped to provide first-rate cardiology care with a Phillips EPIQ 5c ultrasound machine, Philips CX70 ultrasound machine, Phillips PageWriter TC70 ECG machine, GE OEC9600 fluouroscopic unit, MedRad Provis pressure injector, and fully stocked catheterization lab for interventional procedures, Fukuda Denski in-hospital telemetric monitoring system, Alba digital Holter monitors, event monitor, and ILRs.

We enjoy big city perks without big city traffic. The thriving Cultural District is easily accessible, and diehard sports fans stay entertained with three major sports teams (NFL, MLB, NHL). The surrounding suburbs are lauded for their safety, affordability, and excellent school systems. The hospital is located 10 miles north of the city proper, which gives our doctors the options of suburban, urban, or rural residence within a reasonable commute.
