Specialized Internship in Veterinary Medical & Radiation Oncology
Medical & Radiation Specialized Internship position available at the Veterinary Medical Center of Long Island.
Seeking a candidate with a special interest in Oncology. Candidate will help provide continuity of care to the clients and patients of both the Medical & Radiation Oncology Services. The intern will be mentored and trained by a board-certified Oncologist & a Board-Certified Radiation Oncologist. The candidate would be responsible for supervision and overall clinical performance evaluation. This NY State Accredited internship involves all aspects of patient care including assistance with cases in medical and radiation oncology, initiating, staging and work up of oncology cases, case rechecks and continuity of care when specialists are off service, paperwork and case discharges.
The Veterinary Medical Center of Long Island is a busy referral and emergency practice in Long Island, NY. We are located on the South Shore of Long Island, between the pristine beaches of the Hamptons, and the four-star restaurants, museums, and eclectic culture of New York City. Our specialty departments include Avian and Exotics, Dentistry and Oral Surgery, Emergency and Critical Care, Internal Medicine, Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Ophthalmology, Surgery, Neurology, Dermatology & Physical Therapy. Our treatment capabilities include, six surgical suites, a separate ICU, two digital radiology suites, interventional Radiography, fluoroscopy, an Ultrasound suite, an Endoscopy suite, in-house 1.5 tesla MRI, and in-house 64slice CT scan and a brand-new Varian Halcyon LINAC.
Education opportunities include in-house NY State Accredited CE lectures, membership in our local VMA with monthly lectures, journal club, specialty service rounds, Morbidity/Mortality Rounds, Emergency lecture series, and Intern Grand Rounds. Interns are also invited to attend CE that is offered regularly by our hospital to the veterinary community.
