The College of Veterinary Medicine at Iowa State University located in Ames, Iowa, invites applications for a full-time, term (clinical track) faculty position in Small Animal Internal Medicine (SAIM) in the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences. Applications for term faculty will be accepted at the levels of Clinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, and Clinical Professor.
The successful candidate will be committed to providing excellent patient care and will share a keen dedication for student education and resident training. Being a term, or clinical-track position, the candidate will have a 75% clinical service commitment that would be divided between direct clinical coverage and indirect support of the service’s consulting and resident training responsibilities. Specific percent effort allocation will be determined based on the candidate’s expertise, interests, and the service’s needs. The remaining 25% responsibilities would be divided between scholarly endeavors, teaching responsibilities and institutional service. Clinical duties will include weekends, holidays and after-hours as determined by the service’s needs.
The successful applicant will be joining a section that includes four board-certified internists, three technicians and an active and successful SAIM residency training program. The College of Veterinary Medicine and Iowa State University have invested significant resources to create an outstanding comparative small animal internal medicine program with a strong clinical research component. The Small Animal Hospital, part of the Dr. W. Eugene and Linda Lloyd Veterinary Medical Center, is a newly constructed and renovated building providing a state-of-the-art teaching, learning, and working facility.
The successful candidate should also be collegial and highly collaborative with a clinical focus that will enhance and complement the clinical activities in the Lloyd Veterinary Medical Center.
