Veterinary Referral Associates (VRA) is seeking a third board-certified or residency trained internist to join our growing internal medicine department!

VRA is an AAHA accredited 24-hour specialty and emergency hospital located in Gaithersburg, MD. VRA was founded in 1977 and we have been supplying top-notch specialty and emergency care to pets in the Washington, D.C. area since then. Our hospital is over 30,000 square feet and specialty services offered include medical and radiation oncology, internal medicine, surgery, emergency and critical care, ophthalmology, anesthesiology, neurology, cardiology, radiology, acupuncture, physical rehabilitation, radioactive iodine treatment, and an in-house pathology department with two board-certified clinical pathologists. Our specialists and emergency veterinarians collaborate daily to provide the gold standard in patient care. Advanced diagnostic testing is available on-site, including CT, MRI, ultrasound, endoscopy, digital radiography, fluoroscopy, and an in house laboratory.  We also have an internship program every year and our interns rotate through emergency and all the various specialties. You can learn more about our hospital at https://vravet.com/.

Our Internal Medicine department is very well-established in the community, allowing for a large and interesting caseload. We currently have two internists and our caseload can support a third internist. The schedule we are looking to fill would be a four-day work week. There are no on-call or weekend requirements, unless you wanted to be included in the on-call rotation for scopes. The schedule would be a combination of consultation days and procedure days, as well as taking transfers from the emergency and critical care department. Our radiologists perform all of our ultrasounds. Furthermore, we have a FT anesthesiologist, who helps enhance the safety of every patient undergoing anesthesia or requiring advanced pain management.

VRA is located in Gaithersburg, MD, which has plenty of dining, entertainment, shopping, and parks to enjoy, or you can take a 30 minute commute into Washington, D.C. and explore the historic sites, visit the National Zoo, or catch a game. D.C. has many professional sports teams.

At VRA, we take the health and well-being of our employees seriously, offering flexible working conditions and encouraging a well-rounded work/life balance. We offer a great compensation package, including a competitive salary, health insurance, 401K, PTO, generous CE allowance, additional PTO for CE, and reimbursement for membership and license fees. If this sounds like a team you want to be a part of, please email your resume to Danny Lewis at dlewis@petvetcarecenters.com or apply at https://www.petvetcareers.com/.
