Veterinary Specialty Hospital of San Diego (VSHSD) is seeking a Medical Director to join our well established, 24-hour, emergency and specialty referral hospital in San Diego.
We are seeking an individual who is intrigued by challenge and positive change for the hospital team.
The Medical Director will be a practicing clinician (estimate 50% clinical time) alongside the rest of the VSHSD clinical team and will be expected to lead by example in maintaining a positive and calm demeanor in all situations. The Medical Director will work in collaboration with the Hospital Director and three Associate Medical Directors to drive progressive development of the entire hospital team and continuous improvement of patient services. We seek an individual with high emotional intelligence, innate leadership talent, and an ability to inspire others to persevere in the face of any challenge. The ideal candidate will possess an understanding of the balance of behaviors required to support people, patients, and hospital operations. Success in the role will require a strong ability to listen, confidence in decision making, and a mindset of excellence in specialty medicine.

Specialty interests, both in clinical practice and in research, are supported and encouraged. We have a very active teaching program for externs, rotating interns, specialty interns, and residents.
