Job Details

Pieper Memorial Veterinary Center is currently seeking a Locum board-certified or residency trained internist to join our Internal Medicine department. This busy and growing service is run by two boarded internists. Our team consists of two boarded internists, exceptional technicians and assistants, two department-specific client liaisons, and one Internal Medicine intern.

This position is for February-May 2022 with part-time or full-time options. The Internal Medicine Department is a busy service with strong patient care and a high procedure load. The team environment is important at Pieper and we can be flexible on responsibilities based on the candidate.

Pieper Veterinary is a veterinarian-owned family of emergency, specialty, and primary care hospitals in Central and Southern Connecticut.  Collectively, Pieper has over 45 doctors and over 340 support staff. Pieper Memorial ER/specialty hospital is adjacent to our largest general practice, which has been in continuous operation for over 75 years. Pieper has come to be a trusted and respected community institution.  Our mission is to provide exceptional medical care for pets while keeping care affordable for our clients. We are also very proud to be a VECCS Level I certified emergency & critical care facility, a designation that few practices in the state have achieved.

What we’re about:

Teamwork:  We believe veterinary medicine is a team sport. We know the best way to care for our patients and clients is by working together and supporting each other.

Support:  Our hospitals are organized and staffed to create the support systems we all need to care for our patients, clients, and each other.

Growth:  Opportunities for growth, both personally and professionally, are important to us.  Continuing education, leadership training, and opportunities are available to our staff at all levels.

We would love to meet you to further discuss the opportunity and our generous compensation package. If you are interested in applying for this position, contact James Hammond, DVM, DACVIM (Neurology) at jhammond@piepervet.com.

Company

Pieper Veterinary is in the unique position of being able to offer the resources of a large practice with the values and culture of a small, family-owned business.  With roots in the local community dating back to 1933, Pieper Veterinary was originally established as a mixed animal practice by Dr. Niel Pieper, with the goal of providing the highest standard of care to both patients and clients. Today, Pieper Veterinary is a hub and spokes model practice, featuring four general practice hospitals supported by two emergency and specialty centers, located throughout the Connecticut River Valley. We are proud to be able to offer the most advanced technology and diagnostics to our patients, while still maintaining the feeling of community and family that the Pieper name has come to stand for.

We are also very proud to be a VECCS Level I certified emergency & critical care facility.
