Job Description:

VCA Veterinary Referral and Emergency is seeking a Veterinary Technician to join our Oncology Department. VCA Vet Referral and Emergency is a busy 24-hour hospital that includes oncology, internal medicine, surgery, cardiology, dermatology, and emergency departments. We have operated in Norwalk, CT for over 30 years and have become the top referral facility for many primary veterinarians in the area.

The diagnosis of cancer in a beloved pet can be devastating and scary. Helping pet owners learn as much as they can about the disease and the latest advances in treatment is paramount to managing potential fear and confusion. The oncology team at VCA Referral and Emergency promises to help clients following a diagnosis of cancer. We offer an exceptional level of progressive, sensitive cancer care; our philosophy is that there are always treatment options. We emphasize support, education and the patient's quality of life.

Day to day responsibilities of the Oncology Veterinary Technician include: assisting with appointments and procedures, reviewing patient medical records, obtaining laboratory samples, administering chemotherapy, providing exceptional client communications.

Essential skills of this position include: must be able to lift 45lb and work on feet for several hours at a time; proficiency in venipuncture, IV catheter placement and intubation; induction and monitoring of anesthetic procedures.

Candidates for this position should be enthusiastic about client education and compassionate patient care. Prior experience in an oncology department a plus!
