Job Details

Huntsville Veterinary Specialists & Emergency, Inc. is seeking a full-time medical oncologist to our rapidly growing hospital. Huntsville Veterinary Specialists & Emergency is located in Huntsville, Alabama, which is centered in the heart of the Tennessee Valley. We are proud to serve the referring veterinary community of northern Alabama and southern Tennessee. We currently have two board-certified surgeons, a board-certified neurologist, two full-time and three part-time emergency doctors, as well as a board-certified critical care specialist who is working as a contract doctor 3 days a week. We are also awaiting the arrival of our newly hired part-time internal medicine specialist and exotic specialist, both of whom will work 2 days a week. Our emergency services are currently operational 24 hours a day 7 days a week. A full-time medical oncologist would join our team receiving referrals from our referring veterinary community for medical oncology consultations. Our hospital is fully equipped with an in-house laboratory, digital radiology, a 16 slice CT scan, and a 1.5T MRI. HVSE is also equipped with a recently purchased Storz endoscopy tower.

Huntsville is one of the most dynamic metropolitan areas in the country. Forbes named Huntsville one of the top 20 leading metropolitans for business; Kiplinger’s Personal Finance named Huntsville one of the country’s top 10 cities for raising families; and the U.S. Census 2010 showed Huntsville to be Alabama’s second largest metropolitan area. Huntsville has also been recently identified as the largest city in Alabama based on the most current census within city limits.

With the state’s longest-running symphony, Broadway musicals, and stage acts, Huntsville draws audiences from a broad region. People from throughout the world visit area historic districts, museums, and attractions including the U.S. Space & Rocket Center and Space Camp. Sports enthusiasts enjoy professional minor league baseball and football, college and professional hockey, plus several outdoor activities. Mountains, lakes, woodlands, and the Tennessee River accommodate numerous recreational activities. A temperate climate enhances the season for outdoor sports, including world-class golf, hiking, biking, and fishing. Additionally, a state-of-the-art amphitheater is under construction and set to open in 2022.

We offer competitive compensation and an excellent benefits package, including health insurance, uniform allowance, 401K, discretionary funds for continuing education, and a competitive signing bonus. Our referring veterinary community is eager to welcome a full-time medical oncologist to our economically thriving region and our hospital is fully prepared to identify an enthusiastic individual ready to join our team and help lead our medical oncology service.
