The position will offer mentored guidance in instructional methodologies, course design, and educational research, in combination with clinical service in the North Carolina State University Veterinary Hospital. Advancement of clinical abilities will be through supervision of, and full participation in, 26 weeks per year of Small Animal Internal Medicine clinical service in the NC State Veterinary Hospital. Clinical responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to, direct oversight of cases received by interns and residents, direct involvement with client and referring veterinarian communications, teaching of veterinary students, house officers and visitors in rounds and on the clinic floor, consultations with services within the NC State Veterinary Hospital and with practicing veterinarians, and participation in clinical service meetings. The successful applicant will also be expected to participate in one-on-one clinical teaching, small group problem-based learning, and clinical laboratory instruction. The NCSU CVM has a strong infrastructure for the support of excellence in teaching, and leadership in innovative veterinary education is a top priority at the College.
