Job Details

Specialists in Companion Animal Neurology (SCAN) is a boutique-style neurology and neurosurgery practice with two locations along the beautiful gulf coast of Florida (Naples and Clearwater). We are currently looking to add a third neurologist to our staff in the Naples practice; we currently also employ two full time neurologists at the Clearwater practice. Our neurology/neurosurgery-only practice model allows our support staff to focus on one discipline which elevates the patient and client experience.  The SCAN practice philosophy is to provide technologically advanced neurology and neurosurgery with unsurpassed patient care and compassion.

Both of our SCAN practices have on-site, fixed,  1.5 T high-field MRI, digital x-ray, complete laboratory capabilities, dedicated neurosurgery suites, ultrasonic surgical aspirators, and electrodiagnostics.  Our neurologists enjoy case collaboration with each other, as well as, monthly journal club meetings and shared CE events. Multi-specialty referral practices are nearby for case collaboration by other disciplines, if necessary.

Our Naples practice was established in 2011 and has enjoyed steady growth over the past ten years.  SCAN-Naples is a thriving, well-established and well-run practice with excellent name recognition within the referral market; primary care veterinarians associate SCAN as their trusted source for quality veterinary neurology/neurosurgery. Our support staff is seasoned (many have been working for the practice for >5 years), well-trained, efficient, and easy to work with.  In 2017, we moved to a brand new facility in order to accommodate our rapid growth and we are continuing to expand. SCANs’ medical director, Dr. Michelle Carnes, is based out of the Naples practice and will provide excellent mentorship to a neurologist coming out of his/her residency.

Life is good on the “Paradise Coast” — home to some of the healthiest, happiest and most relaxed people in the nation, according to a Gallup-Healthways State of American Well-Being: Community Rankings; for the last four years, Naples, Florida, was ranked #1 out of of 190 U.S. cities.  Also in 2021, US News and World Report, ranked Naples as the seventh-best populous metro area to live out of 105 US cities. Naples is known as the Paradise Coast for good reason: its residents enjoy its sparkling white sand beaches, incredible food, world-class golf (its nickname is the Golf Capital of the World) and relaxed coastal town feel.  Nestled between the Gulf of Mexico and the Florida Everglades, Naples has it all - whether you enjoy the beach, boating, hiking, fishing, biking, golfing or just relaxing in the sun..  Families will enjoy A+ schools, a safe community, and a moderate cost of living.

As a full-time neurologist at SCAN, you will enjoy a positive work-life balance and be able to thoroughly enjoy all of what Naples has to offer. SCAN offers excellent base salary + production compensation, a flexible work schedule, excellent benefits (medical/dental/vision), 401(k), paid time off, paid relocation and a generous CE allowance.
