Experienced Cardiologists, new resident grads and third year Cardiology residents - are you looking to work at a fun, collaborative emergency/specialty practice that focuses on providing high standards of care as well as actively invested in maintaining a safe, inclusive, collegial and collaborative culture?

The Veterinary Medical Center in Syracuse, NY is in search of a Cardiologist who can work alongside other specialists to support our mission for a team-based approach to specialty veterinary care.  Third year Cardiology residents are welcome to apply, and we are currently offering early compensation and benefits for those who join us during residency.

The VMC is currently a 18,000 sq ft hospital (with plans for new hospital build under way) that currently offers 24 hour emergency care in addition to Internal Medicine, Surgery, Oncology, Radiology, Nutrition, Anesthesiology and Critical Care.  We plan to add Neurology, Dentistry and Ophthalmology in the near future as we continue to grow. In addition, within the VMC exists CARE, a complementary rehabilitation and pain management center.  Attached to the VMC is an IDEXX reference laboratory, which enables accurate test results with a fast turnaround time for hospitalized patients.

We are looking for an individual to help build a Cardiology service in an area of high demand.  We provide strong support for the learning and introduction of new services, enabling an individual to create a unique niche that suits him/her/they both professionally and personally.  We offer state-of-the-art equipment (GE Vivid ultrasound dedicated to Cardiology, 16 slice CT, Dextronix 12 lead ECG), and are eager to hear what more we can do to help the growth of the team.

Do you enjoy teaching?  Great!  We also host an ER Immersion Program for new veterinary school grads interested in ER - a program in which all specialists are involved.  We also host an internship program with an 88% success rate on matching interns with residencies.

As mentioned above, we invest in our culture to ensure a safe, inclusive, collaborative and collegial environment for all.  Aside from regular team meetings, we have also incorporated the assistance of a Licensed Social Worker to assist us with building and maintaining a consistent culture amongst all teams and that any issues are addressed openly in a supportive manner.

Syracuse is located in beautiful upstate NY and offers many activities for the outdoor enthusiast (hiking, running, kayaking, swimming, triathlons, snowmobiling, skiing, etc).  We are located near the Finger Lakes that boasts beautiful wineries as well as craft beer makers, which complements Syracuse's blossoming culinary scene.  We appreciate our staff, and your Wellness is our priority!  From monthly massages to week-long appreciation events, we are invested to making our practice a place to join and stay.

If you are interested in joining our team, please email Maureen Luschini (luschini@vmccny.com). We look forward to meeting you!
