The Faculté de médecine vétérinaire (FMV) of the Université de Montréal is currently seeking qualified candidates for a clinician position in internal medicine. The FMV is located in Saint-Hyacinthe, the agricultural capital of Quebec with 57 000 inhabitants. The FMV is located 60 km (37 miles) from Montreal, a vibrant city with an international airport and excellent flight connections to Europe and the USA. The FMV is also within easy reach of the beautiful, historic Quebec City and Ottawa, the capital of Canada.
As a clinician, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the excellence of the Faculté de médecine vétérinaire:
Through your teaching (for a maximum of 90% of the appointment), you will also ensure the visibility of your discipline and your research activities in addition to actively participate in the operation of a renowned institution (for a minimum of 10% of the appointment). As such, you will:
Participate in clinical teaching through provision of care and services meeting the different needs of the internal medicine service clientele in the small animal hospital;
Participate in clinical teaching of interns and residents in internal medicine;
Supervise veterinary students and rotating interns and residents;
Evaluate student learning;
Provide educational advice and assistance to students.
To succeed in this role, you must have the following qualifications:
Doctor in veterinary medicine or equivalent degree;
Completion of a formal residency training program in internal medicine;
Certification by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) or European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ECVIM-CA) or board certification eligibility for certification of either college;
Work experience (possibly including work experience during residency) and interest in clinical teaching of internal medicine in an academic environment;
Obtain a licence to practice veterinary medicine issues by the Ordre des médecins vétérinaires du Québec;
An adequate knowledge of the French written and spoken language or a strong commitment to mastering the proficiency level required, in accordance to Université de Montréal’s Language Policy. An institutional learning support program is offered to all professors wishing to learn French or improve their communication skills.
