Permanent position for Internal Medicine Specialist in Norway.

Rikstotoklinikken Bjerke is the leading independent equine hospital in Norway, with approximately 3000 cases annually and stabling for 25 horses. The hospital is situated centrally in Oslo, adjacent to the country’s main racetrack and provides 24 hours service for both first opinion and referral equine cases. The hospital is equipped to provide a full diagnostic service, including:

- standing MRI

- digital radiography (DR & CR roof-mounted system)

- ultrasonography (stationary and portable) with echocardiography capabilities

- endoscopy (stationary and over-ground) & gastroscopy

- oral/dental endoscopy

- high-speed treadmill

- electrocardiography with Holter monitor

- in-house laboratory

Our surgical theatre is fully equipped for arthroscopy, laparoscopy (recumbent and standing), fracture repair and soft tissue surgery, including laser surgery.

 

We are looking to expand our team to make our hospital even more professional and complete and are therefore seeking a specialist in internal medicine (DipECEIM or DipACVIM), or board-eligible candidate.

 

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be expected to provide clinical services, mainly in-house, including:

- Emergency and critical care, including participating in an out-of-hours rota.

- Gastroenterology

- Poor Performance

- Respiratory diseases

- Cardiology

- Neurology

- Ophthalmology

- Dermatology

- Metabolic diseases

- An interest in sports medicine, and willingness to participate in lameness work would be an advantage

- Contribute to clinical training/teaching of junior colleagues, including interns

- If the successful candidate is interested in clinical pathology/cytology it would be possible to expand the hospital’s services within this field.

Qualifications and experience:

- The applicant should be a DipECEIM/DipACVIM or have completed a residency in Equine Internal Medicine, and thus be board-eligible.

- Applicants holding a certificate in Equine Internal Medicine or having similar experience and training will be considered and are encouraged to apply

- Applicants must be fluent in English or in a Scandinavian Language

- The successful applicant should have good communication skills and be an excellent team-worker.

- Time allocated for board exam preparations can be arranged if necessary
