Applications are invited from qualified individuals for a tenure-track faculty position at the level of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor in Small Animal Internal Medicine with the Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences. The successful candidate will contribute to the formation of a dynamic medicine service and teach in the Veterinary Medical Centre with 3 other internal medicine faculty. The section works with and is supported by a team of board-certified specialists in anesthesiology, dentistry, dermatology, emergency and critical care, nutrition, oncology, ophthalmology, rehabilitation, radiology, radiation oncology, surgery, and zoological companion animals. We seek candidates with excellent interpersonal communication skills, outstanding clinical teaching skills, and a passion for undergraduate and graduate veterinary education. Scholarly activity and development of a clinical research program in collaboration with other faculty is encouraged and expected. Extensive opportunities for collaborative and interdisciplinary research exist within the College and the University. Active participation in continuing education opportunities is encouraged.

The Western College of Veterinary Medicine is western Canada’s regional college of veterinary medicine. Annually 88 students are admitted to the DVM program. The College also has approximately 170 graduate students, interns, and residents. It is part of a comprehensive academic health sciences group at the University of Saskatchewan (www.usask.ca) with access to facilities including Canada’s national synchrotron light facility (www.lightsource.ca) and Cyclotron-PET/CT Research Centre. The Veterinary Medical Centre is a state-of-the-art facility servicing western Canada as an AVMA and AAHA accredited hospital and referral centre. Equipment and diagnostic enhancements include endoscopic and interventional equipment, ROTEM and platelet aggregometry, CT scanner, fluoroscopy, MRI, nuclear scintigraphy, linear accelerator with SRT and IMRT capabilities and PET-CT.

Candidates must have a DVM or equivalent. American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine Small Animal (ACVIM-SAIM) board certification or completion of an ACVIM (SAIM) approved residency is required. Candidates must be licensed or eligible for licensure by the Saskatchewan Veterinary Medical Association. Preference will be given to those who have a post-graduate degree with related research experience and experience with the teaching of veterinary education.

Salary bands for this position are as follows:

Assistant Professor: $99,945 to $120,099; Associate Professor: $120,099 to $140,253; and Professor: $140,253 to $163,766 and is negotiable based on qualifications and experience.
