The Companion Animal Hospital Oncology service at the Cornell University Hospital for Animals (CUHA) have an immediate opening for a dedicated Licensed Veterinary Technician.

 

In this position, you will be part of an international team of board-certified oncology faculty, and will work with residents, students, and licensed veterinary technicians (LVT) that provide high quality care for small animals.

You will provide technical assistance for routine and complex appointments, case workups, and procedures. Examples include:

  • Liaison with other hospital services for efficient patient care and oversee diagnostic work-up of each patient, to include handling and monitoring of equipment

  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date inventory of interventional and other equipment, ordering equipment as needed

  • Collaborate with multiple specialty services to ensure excellent care of patients

  • Shape the future of veterinary care through practical instruction of diverse DVM students

  • Participate in cutting-edge veterinary research and clinical trials

  • Administer chemotherapy agents to patients with cancer.

 

What qualifications are required?

  • Associate degrees from an AVMA accredited institution plus NYS
    licensure and up to 2 years relevant experience or equivalent combination.

  • Interest in on-going career growth and advanced skill development.

  • VTS in Oncology will be considered a plus, but not required.

  • Excellent communication skills and willingness to work in a busy, team-oriented clinical environment

 

The Cornell University Hospital for Animals provides 24-hour care for pets 365 days of the year.

The majority of our teaching and routine care for this role occurs Monday through Friday, day shifts. Other hours, as determined by caseload and need, to include weekends and holidays (includes generous holiday pay) may be required.
