Internists,

We hope this letter finds you well. As the owners of North Springs Veterinary Referral Center (North Springs VRC), we are excited to share with you a career opportunity at our brand new, privately owned, state of the art facility.

North Springs VRC is an emergency and specialty referral hospital located in the beautiful city of Colorado Springs, Colorado.  With mountains to the west, Denver to the north, and a close knit community, Colorado Springs offers a small town feel, all of the outdoor recreation options, and big city opportunities to meet all interests. Upon opening (July 2023), the North Springs VRC emergency department will be available 24/7/365. Initial specialty services will include cardiology, internal medicine, surgery, radiology, and exotics, with critical care and anesthesiology soon to follow. The 13,000 sqft hospital is designed with separate specialty and emergency entrances and waiting rooms, nine dedicated emergency exam rooms, a large ICU/treatment area for emergency patients, a completely separated isolation wing, a dedicated exam room and treatment area for each specialist, two surgery suites, radiology, endoscopy, and ultrasound suites, and specific spaces for CT, fluoroscopy, and I131 services. There are also designated specialist office space, a specialty phone/call back room, and even a staff pets housing area, among other amenities for comfort and wellbeing.

North Springs VRC strives to provide high quality integrative care by providing a collaborative approach between the emergency and specialty practices. Specialists will have autonomy to build their departments to fit their desired medical practice centered around growth, development, didactics, and collaboration toward the advancement of the field of veterinary medicine. We are seeking doctors who are interested in aligning their departments with our core values of empathy, transparency, integrity, unity, positivity, innovation, and community.

Camaraderie between the emergency and specialty departments is of utmost importance. To foster this relationship, specialists will participate in morning rounds while on shift, accept case transfers from the emergency department, participate in on-call responsibilities (within reason), and provide input on case management. Additionally, monthly staff and doctor meetings, journal club, M&M rounds, and grand rounds will be held to support continued professional growth across all departments.

The internist schedule will consist of 4 day work weeks (8am-6pm M, T, W, Th week 1, T, W, Th, F week 2), allowing for all weekends off, including a 4-day weekend every other weekend and all national holidays off. Specialists with on-call shifts will assist in designing their on-call schedule upon hiring based on the individual’s personal availability. Compensation is pro-sal based, and benefits include 401K with 4% matching, student loan repayment stipend, signing bonus, relocation bonus, professional supply and uniform stipend, profit sharing, health insurance, continuing education stipend, charitable allowance, PTO of 1 month per year, separate 2 weeks paid leave, employee discount, maternity/paternity leave, journal subscriptions, and all professional dues.

If you are interested in joining the North Springs VRC team, we invite you to schedule a virtual meeting time for us to provide additional information and answer questions; please contact us at  lindseyganzer@northspringsvrc.com, and visit our website at www.northspringsvrc.com.
