The University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery, seeks applications for two full-time non-tenure track faculty positions in Small Animal Nutrition at the Assistant Teaching Professor level. The successful candidate will provide instruction and oversee clinical service activities of a small animal clinical nutrition consultation service and participate in our community practice, small animal emergency service, or small animal sports medicine and rehabilitation service at the MU Veterinary Health Center (VHC).

Nutrition instruction principally will be leading of clinical rotations and contributions to didactic instruction, and will involve professional students, intern veterinarians, and resident veterinarians. Scholarly activities may include research collaborations and continuing education offerings at local, regional, and\or national veterinary meetings. The candidate will participate in the functioning, fiscal health, and growth of the nutrition consultation service.

The successful candidates will split time between the nutrition service and the community practice, the small animal emergency service or the small animal sports medicine and rehabilitation service. The candidate will have the freedom to choose the service that most closely matches their expertise and interest.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree (such as VMD, BVSc);
  • Diplomate status or eligibility for certification by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) in the Nutrition subspeciality or completion of an approved Nutrition residency training by start date.

Candidates will be evaluated on:

  • Eligibility for licensure to practice veterinary medicine in Missouri
  • Must be eligible for BNDD and DEA certification in the State of Missouri
  • Professional, residency and graduate training
  • Rehabilitation certification (e.g., CCRP, CCRT, CCAT, or equivalent) or Diplomate status/eligibility for certification by the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation for those interested in a dual nutrition-rehabilitation appointment

Selection Criteria:

Candidates will be assessed based upon clinical and educational interests, achievements, and potential. Clinical experience, communication skills, organization skills, experience working effectively in an interdisciplinary and diverse environment, and letters of reference will be collectively considered in selection of a candidate.
