Job Details

Veterinary Emergency + Referral Center of Hawaii (VERC) is an advanced 24-hour veterinary emergency and specialty hospital, the first of its kind in the state of Hawaii. Our dedicated board-certified specialists and highly trained emergency professionals provide a truly collaborative approach to veterinary medicine. Supported by our newly built, 17,250 square foot state-of-the-art facility with a USP-800 compliant oncology suite and advanced diagnostic equipment including ultrasound, endoscopy, digital radiography, 128-slice CT scan, the state’s first veterinary MRI, fluoroscopy, and in-house laboratory, we offer the most comprehensive and progressive patient care on the Hawaiian Islands. Our exceptional staff includes specialists in critical care, internal medicine, neurology, surgery, oncology, and radiology, as well as experienced emergency veterinarians and experienced technicians. We continue to expand and will also soon be adding a physical rehabilitation service in February 2023!

We are honored to have been named winner of the 2022 Hospital of the Year award in the over 8,000 sq ft category! https://www.dvm360.com/view/saying-aloha-to-hawaii-s-first-emergency-and-specialty-veterinary-hospital  This distinction recognizes the most attractive, functional and efficient animal health care facilities in the US, with an emphasis on designing an environment for both safety and wellness of patients, clients and staff.

The successful candidate for the position of Oncologist will be board-certified or an individual who is residency-trained, motivated, and energetic. We are looking for someone who fits in well with our cohesive team, stays up to date with changing medical guidance in their field, and has strong communication and interpersonal skills. We emphasize a truly collaborative approach to medicine and our specialists, emergency doctors, technicians, and client care staff work very closely together with our referring veterinarians to provide great care to our patients and their human companions.

We offer a highly competitive compensation package, signing bonus, relocation allowance, and tailored relocation assistance to the island including a partnership with a local real estate agent to help with home search on the island. Also, biannual travel stipend to allow for visiting family/friends on the mainland, short-term housing while searching for your dream home and more! We will help make your transition to the magical island of Oahu smooth sailing (or surfing)!  As part of our interview process, we invite you for a visit (travel expenses paid by us!) to tour our hospital, meet our team, and get a chance to see Hawaii for yourself and imagine your future here!
