The Department of Clinical Sciences, College of Veterinary Medicine, Cornell University invites applications for 1 tenure track faculty position and 1 clinical track faculty position in the Section of Oncology. Candidates must have a DVM or equivalent degree and must be eligible or board certified by the American College of Veterinary Radiology (Radiation Oncology). Starting salary and rank will be commensurate with academic credentials and experience.

The successful candidate will join five faculty members (to make up a total of 6 faculty; three medical oncologists, two radiation oncologists, and one medical physicist), three medical oncology residents, and five licensed veterinary technicians comprising the Section of Oncology.  The Section provides care for patients in the Cornell University Hospital for Animals, a tertiary care service and teaching facility with a diverse caseload and an established referral base.  It is a great time to join our group as a new state-of-the-art linear accelerator will be installed, allowing the new faculty members to shape the future of clinical Radiation Oncology services and research. We are also installing a new CT scanner for diagnostic radiology and radiation oncology CT simulation.  Our Toshiba Vantage 1.5T MRI has recently undergone substantial updates in both its software and hardware components. Clinical service and teaching responsibilities for medical oncology and future radiation oncology residents are distributed among faculty. Faculty have the opportunity to participate in training undergraduate students, graduate students, and professional students, as well as rotating interns and residents.  Faculty members are expected to develop and sustain a clinical, basic, and/or translational research program. Independent research space and services of clinical trial coordinators are available. Cornell is a world-class research and teaching institution with extensive facilities and opportunities on campus for collaboration with basic scientists of all disciplines and being a member of the Clinical and Translational Science Award One Health Alliance, Cornell Center for Microenvironment and Metastasis, Cornell AI Initiative, and Cornell BioBank all on the Ithaca campus, Cornell Veterinary Specialist Hospital in Stamford Connecticut, and Weill Cornell Medicine and Cornell Tech in New York City, provide a large pool of potential collaborators.

Cornell University embraces diversity and seeks candidates who will create a climate that attracts students of all races, nationalities, and genders. We strongly encourage women and underrepresented minorities to apply.  The University seeks to meet the needs of dual-career couples, has a Dual Career program, and is a member of the Upstate New York Higher Education Recruitment Consortium to assist with dual-career searches.

Cornell is in Ithaca on the shores of Cayuga Lake in the beautiful Finger Lakes region of New York. Ithaca is a vibrant city with art museums, theaters, and a diverse selection of restaurants. It is within driving distance of several large metropolitan centers, award-winning wineries, and downhill skiing areas. Ithaca is a nature-lovers paradise with ample opportunities for outdoor activities.  Easy campus-to-campus bus transportation allows one to explore or develop collaborations in NYC while enjoying the “Ithaca is Gorges” lifestyle.
