Job Details
Atlantic Veterinary Internal Medicine & Oncology seeking a medical oncologist for our thriving practice in historic waterfront Annapolis, Maryland. We will accept board-certified or residency-trained veterinary medical oncologists for this position.
Our core principles revolve around combining top tier veterinary medical care with empathetic communication with clients and collaboration with referring veterinarians and other specialists.
As a medical oncologist at AVIM&O, you will benefit from a four-day set schedule work week with a highly trained and dedicated oncology technician team. We are open to discussing a more limited schedule for the right candidate. We do not see new case appointments or take transfers on weekends.
AVIM&O was established in 1992 and is a member practice of Chesapeake Veterinary Referral Center, an integrated specialty referral hospital with specialists in surgery, cardiology, neurology, advanced imaging, ophthalmology, radiation oncology, emergency medicine and a 24/7 ICU service. AVIM&O also has practice locations in Towson and Columbia, Maryland and is supported by NVA-Compassion First.
Our 28,000 square foot building boasts advanced equipment, including:
- Dedicated spaces for chemotherapy prep and administration Olympus 190 series video endoscopes Multiple rigid scopes Phillips EPIQ5 ultrasounds I-Stat Heska Lacuna digital cytology Digital radiography Benchtop in-hospital lab systems Advanced monitoring 16-slice CT and 1.5 Tesla MRI.
Because we believe in the value of continuing education and integration with other specialists, we offer a positive and supportive learning environment demonstrated by our collegial conversations with our adjoining specialty practices, interactive morning rounds, journal club, monthly lunch and learns and veterinary student extern mentoring. In 2022, we welcomed our first specialty intern and plan to grow the program. We value collaboration and a team-based approach to our cases, both within our practice and with other specialists.

Annapolis is a charming and historic waterfront city with easy access to sailing, powerboating and paddling the Chesapeake Bay, wooded hiking trails and parks, excellent restaurants and a historic, cobblestoned downtown offering boutique shopping, historic homes breweries and music venues. Annapolis is also home to the United States Naval Academy, St. John’s College, The Key School and Annapolis Area Christian School. The surrounding counties offer rolling horse farms for the equestrian lover and our practice is a short drive to ocean beaches or the Appalachian mountains.
