As a Medical Affairs Specialist (MAS) in oncology, you will be responsible for a variety of duties within the Global Medical Organization (GMO) for IDEXX, with a focus on veterinary medicine, specifically oncology. You will report to the Director of Global Medical Affairs and Outreach. You will serve as a subject matter expert in oncology and maintain a broad and deep knowledge of IDEXX tests, as well as emerging and competitive technologies. You will bring your expertise to provide medical guidance, collaborate with stakeholders, build relationships, and offer training and support in oncology-related matters for IDEXX.

In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Providing Medical Expertise: Delivering medically in-depth seminars at conferences on IDEXX products and services, and delivering specialized product education events, to help establish standard clinical studies in the veterinary / oncology field, and experimental practices. Collaboration and Liaison: Liaising with other GMO Centers of Excellence (CoEs), Marketing, R&D, Line of Businesses (LOBs), and external Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs). You'll network and utilize regional medical subject matter experts (SMEs) and KOLs as part of the global network. You'll act as a technical and medical liaison between IDEXX and the veterinary community. Relationship Building: Maintaining successful communications that sustain trust, goodwill, and strategic relationships with relevant stakeholders important to the company's success. In conjunction with the Medical Education CoE, you'll develop educational content and integrate IDEXX products into the educational efforts of veterinary teaching universities. Training and Support: Supporting Professional Services Veterinarians and the customer-facing organization by designing and developing medical content and training materials in conjunction with the Commercial Training team.
You'll educate internal and external audiences on the medical message and positioning of IDEXX products and services. You'll deliver education on specialized products at various events and act as a subject matter expert during the development and on-market phases of the product life cycle.
What you will need to succeed:
Education:
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or VMD) is required. DACVIM (oncology) or ECVIM-CA is required. MS and/or Ph.D. is a plus.
Skills and Abilities:
- You have 5-7+ years of academic innovation, clinical, and/or veterinary industry experience. Licensure or ability to obtain licensure required. Ability to apply critical thinking to develop and assess veterinary medical content and materials, ensuring they effectively educate and assist individuals in understanding the subject matter, while considering their specific needs and determining the most suitable approach. Ability to make informed decisions to identify and select the optimal medical content and programs that align with the organization's needs and objectives. Experience demonstrating strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to effectively present and speak to various audiences, including customers, employees, management at all levels, academic professionals, clinical specialists, and internal/external Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs). Ability to maintain familiarity with current topics and issues in clinical veterinary medicine, staying up-to-date with the latest advancements and trends in the field. You display a service-oriented attitude that prioritizes meeting the needs of others, whether it be colleagues, customers, or stakeholders, and providing exemplary service in all interactions. Ability to organize and prioritizing work efficiently, ensuring tasks are appropriately structured and completed in a timely manner. Gaining a comprehensive understanding of the technology behind different diagnostic tests, including technical specifications and their medical applications. You exemplify excellent organizational and prioritization skills, upholding professional integrity, and demonstrating a solid work ethic in all responsibilities and tasks undertaken. You exhibit a high level of self-motivation and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, taking initiative to accomplish goals and deliver results. You possess computer skills or the willingness and eagerness to learn the necessary technical competencies. You are an expert with current topics and issues in clinical veterinary oncology, maintaining awareness of the latest developments and challenges in the field. You have the ability to travel up to 25% of the time. Fluency in written and verbal English.
