As a Veterinary Oncologist, you will play a vital role in our hospital, providing specialized care to our oncology patients. You will work collaboratively with our experienced team of veterinarians, technicians, and your patient’s primary care veterinarian to deliver comprehensive diagnostics, treatments, and follow-up care. Your expertise and compassion will make a profound difference to the lives of our patients and their families.
Responsibilities:
- Perform thorough examinations, diagnostics, and consultations for patients with suspected or confirmed cancer. Diagnose and treat animals with various types of cancer and recommending appropriate diagnostic tests. Develop individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient's specific needs, utilizing the latest advancements in oncology. Administer chemotherapy and other specialized cancer treatments. Conduct regular follow-up examinations to monitor treatment progress and make necessary adjustments. Collaborate effectively with our multidisciplinary team, including veterinary surgeons, internists, radiologists, cardiologists, ophthalmologist and the patient’s primary care veterinarian to ensure comprehensive care. Educate pet owners on their options, prognosis, and potential side effects of treatment, while providing compassionate support throughout the entire process. Participate in ongoing professional development, staying abreast of emerging treatments and technologies within the field of veterinary oncology.
Qualifications:
- DVM or VMD degree from an accredited veterinary college. Board certification or eligibility for board certification in veterinary oncology (ACVIM or ECVIM). Experience in diagnosing and treating a wide range of cancer cases in companion animals. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with clients, colleagues, and support staff. Demonstrated commitment to continuing education and staying abreast of the latest developments in veterinary oncology.
