We are a small specialty practice in Portland, Oregon dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of cancer, including medical and surgical oncology, as well as orthopedics and soft-tissue surgery services. Our facility includes a 64-slice CT scanner, mini C-arm, HD arthroscopy, in-house radiologists, chemotherapy suite, electrochemotherapy, healing garden, and comfort room.

We would embrace anyone interested in developing their own professional interests, and we will be supportive of any ideas that help provide our patients and their families with the best possible care.  While we are open 5 days a week, our teams at VCSS work a 4 day work week, and we are very open to creative schedule options to allow generous time off and sharing of the caseload. There are no on-call or weekend duties required. Compensation and benefits are competitive with other private practices, and can be discussed on an individual basis. We would also consider someone interested in doing relief work at VCSS to try us out and see whether a move to Portland and the beautiful Pacific Northwest might be in your future?

Veterinary Cancer & Surgery Specialists (VCSS), a thriving medical oncology & surgery practice in Portland, OR, seeks a compassionate and skilled Veterinary Oncologist to join our team. After working in a large multi-specialty environment, in 2014 by Kim Freeman, DVM, DACVIM (Oncology) and John Wooldridge, DVM, DACVS, VCSS founded VCSS seeking a way to offer a smaller, more flexible, collaborative work environment, free from the constraints of corporate medicine.

We are dedicated to providing exceptional, compassionate care for pets battling cancer. We pride ourselves on being a close-knit team, prioritizing personalized attention for both our furry patients and their families.  We currently have two medical oncologists (Dr. Kim Freeman and Dr. Susie Kang) and one surgeon (Dr. John Wooldridge) and are looking to expand our services.

  • Private practice ownership potential:
  •  We are open to exploring interest from an individual or group of doctors interested in ownership potential, allowing you to control your future! (While this is welcome, it is not essential).
