Job Details

Are you a Veterinary Oncologist looking to join a growing team in a VECCS Level I facility and walk into a busy, pre-existing caseload? Do you want to collaborate with other specialty departments on treatment plans in a collegial and team-based culture?  Do you enjoy teaching students, interns, and residents? If so, we want to hear from you!

Pieper Memorial Veterinary Center is expanding, and we are looking for a second veterinary oncologist to join our outstanding team of dedicated professionals in Middletown, Connecticut.

Our state-of-the-art facility includes everything you need to practice the highest level of medicine. You will enjoy a collegial and collaborative work environment including a committed team of oncology technicians, assistants, and a client liaison. You and your patients will be supported with boarded specialists in Internal Medicine, Neurology, Surgery, Diagnostic Imaging, Avian/Exotics, and Critical Care as well as a seasoned team of primary and emergency veterinarians. As an added bonus, we enjoy an Antech reference laboratory in the building with an on-site clinical pathologist.

At Pieper, we prioritize a doctor-led, medicine first approach and are proud to offer equity options to our veterinarians. We believe in an integrated veterinary system that brings together veterinarians and medical teams from every type of practice to support our community.  Pieper Veterinary is committed to education and in addition to our rotating internships, specialty internships, and residencies partners with Middlesex Community College to provide clinical training for their AVMA accredited veterinary technology program.

Owned and operated by veterinarians since 1937, our family of hospitals in Connecticut include five primary care and one urgent care hospitals. We are thrilled to have recently partnered with Mass-RI Veterinary ER in Swansea, MA, Metropolitan Veterinary Associates in Norristown, PA and Portland Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Care (PVESC) in Portland, Maine. These valued partnerships support Pieper's continuing strategy to partner with privately-owned hospitals who want to grow, expand, and share in a commitment to providing quality veterinarian-led medicine in the Northeast.

We offer a supportive culture with social events & team building, and our benefits package includes comprehensive medical, dental and vision insurance, mental health focused services, equity options, sign-on bonuses, fully paid short term disability, a safe harbor 401K with match, and a generous pet care discount.

Company

Pieper Veterinary is in the unique position of being able to offer the resources of a large practice with the values and culture of a small, family-owned business.  With roots in the local community dating back to 1933, Pieper Veterinary was originally established as a mixed animal practice by Dr. Niel Pieper, with the goal of providing the highest standard of care to both patients and clients. Today, Pieper Veterinary is a hub and spokes model practice, featuring four general practice hospitals supported by two emergency and specialty centers, located throughout the Connecticut River Valley. We are proud to be able to offer the most advanced technology and diagnostics to our patients, while still maintaining the feeling of community and family that the Pieper name has come to stand for.

We are also very proud to be a VECCS Level I certified emergency & critical care facility.
