Job Details
The Center of Excellence for Medical Advocacy at IDEXX Veterinary Diagnostics, within the Global Medical Organization, is dedicated to shaping the medical narrative by leveraging insights and expertise from key opinion leaders (KOLs), internal experts, and a range of stakeholders. The focus spans across academic institutions (universities), general practitioners, and veterinary specialists, ensuring the integration of cutting-edge diagnostics, thought leadership, and scientific rigor into clinical practice. This initiative supports the education, engagement, and collaboration necessary for advancing veterinary medicine and fostering innovation in diagnostics.
This role will establish a full-time Specialist Support Veterinarian Group to grow and enhance IDEXX’s engagement with veterinary specialists, support priority development areas and build relationships with specialists and specialty practices through peer to peer relationships, education, and specialist level communications.
Key Areas of Focus:
Peer-to-Peer Engagement: Direct interactions to specialist or a specialty community, with a consistent cadence of communication on the value and scientific rigor of IDEXX diagnostics and on-going innovation efforts.
Educational Outreach: Develop and deliver specialist-level educational programs to enhance awareness and utilization of IDEXX products and services. Provide both in person and virtual peer to peer support to bring specialist first know, product and data updates, and clinical insights for diagnostic use.
Support Organizational Priorities: Enhance the specialty customer experience, support onboarding of specialty hospitals, recruit KOLs, and collaborate with specialist within corporate accounts and universities specialist in the roles of research, clinical care and student and resident training.
Key Opinion Leader (KOL) Development: Identify and recruit new specialty KOLs to support education and research to expand our KOL relationships at both the clinical practice and academic level.
Sales Enablement: Partner with the professional services veterinarians and commercial teams to train, educate, and develop strategic approaches to regional specialty practices to support key initiatives and build broader relationships.
In this role, you will also...
- Collaborate with commercial and corporate accounts teams to support specialist engagement and education virtually, and in-person.
- Build relationships with key academic institutions and training centers to develop KOL connections and relationships.
- Present medically in-depth seminars at regional, state, national and international conferences on products and services focused to specialist level interactions.
- Support Professional Services Veterinarians by design and development of medical content and training materials to educate them on the medical message and positioning of products and services
- Design, develop and deliver specialist level education
- Deliver education on specialized products at various educational events, as well as interact with key opinion leaders (KOLs) regarding these products.
- Provide subject matter expertise, continuing education and outreach to KOLs, specialists and universities.
- Act as subject matter expert on key products during development and on-market phases of product life-cycle as needed.
- Contribute to strategic thought to key projects and priorities
What do you need to succeed in this role?
EDUCATION:
- Required: Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) and Residency Training Board Certification (ACVIM/ECVIM Dip. Internal Medicine, Oncology or equivalent)
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Highly Collaborative Nature: Building strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and teams
- Critical Thinking: to develop or assess veterinary medical content and materials that will educate and help individuals understand the subjects being taught; to understand the needs of the individuals and judge what will work.
- Decision Making: to determine and identify the best medical content and programs to meet the needs of the organization.
- Drives Results: Focus on reaching desired goal and outcomes as set forth
- Verbal/written/interpersonal communication skills: to speak/present to groups of customers, employees and all levels of management; high level academia and clinical specialists, internal/external KOLs.
- Familiarity with current topics and issues in clinical veterinary medicine.
- Must possess a demonstrated service oriented attitude.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work.
- Ability to gain in-depth understanding of the technology behind a variety of diagnostic testing, including technical specifications & medical application.
- Excellent organization and prioritization skills, professional integrity, a solid work ethic.
- High level of self-motivation – ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Computer skills, or ability and desire to learn required skills, are necessary.
- Familiarity with current topics and issues in clinical veterinary medicine.
