Board Certified or Residency Trained Internist

Ironhorse Vetcare, one of the longest established specialty referral practices in Northern California, is seeking a board certified or residency trained Internist to join our team. Traditionally a medicine-forward clinic, this hire offers the unique opportunity to craft a service in the shape you desire, without the need to grow from scratch or suffer a heavy on-call schedule due to the collaboration and shared on-call rota with the other 2 internists in our hospital’s group.

Ironhorse Vetcare has a full complement of experienced, well trained and compassionate staff. The right candidate will have access to a referral veterinarian base yearning for more access to Internal Medicine as well as an in-house emergency service to facilitate transfers. The successful candidate will participate in community outreach in a supportive structure but this is not a situation where the service needs to be built from scratch.

Ironhorse Vetcare and its sister hospital OakVet Animal Specialty Hospital provide the most comprehensive service to the San Francisco Bay Area, with boarded specialists in the following disciplines: Internal Medicine, Radiology, Surgery, Medical Oncology, Emergency/Critical Care, Behavior and an Internist that specializes solely in reproduction.

Between the two facilities, we collectively boast 4 surgical suites, CT, fluoroscopy, radioactive iodine, complete flexible and rigid endoscopic  instrumentation, Holmium-Yag Laser, multiple ultrasounds including a color flow Doppler, O2 cages, SUB placement, and tracheal, urethral and ureteral stenting capabilities, as well as digital radiology suites. 

The relationship between the individual doctors and the various services is unparalleled and supportive of an excellent internship program. Heavy collaboration and support is expected between the internal medicine departments of both hospitals. Teaching, mentoring and participating in the interns' professional development would be expected from any candidate.
