JCU Vet is the Clinical Small Animal Teaching Hospital for James Cook University School of Veterinary Science located in Townsville, North Queensland. We are focused on providing excellence in clinical training for veterinary students and developing a post graduate residency program. 

As part of our vision, we are expanding our team of specialists to further grow our clinical disciplines, including Emergency and Critical Care, Medicine, Surgery, Anaesthesia and Radiology.

This position is perfect for veterinary specialists with experience in academia, clinical practice, teaching, and leadership. If you enjoy mentoring students and leading postgraduate research and training, we provide the resources and support to help you succeed.

We are seeking an ECC Specialist who shares our commitment to progressive patient care, lifelong learning, and a passion for teaching and mentoring. To succeed you should hold  DACVECC, DECVECC or FANZCVS and a Veterinary degree eligible for registration in Australia.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a to deliver advanced medical care for referred patients locally and statewide 
  • Support and collaborate with other disciplines to foster a positive learning environment for students and staff 
  • Build strong relationships with referring veterinarians 
  • Mentor, oversee & support the development of veterinary interns and residents 
  • Drive continuous improvement within the ECC & CC service 
  • Share and expand expertise through in-house continuing education and clinician rounds 
  • Engage in student case management, rounds, tutorials, and assessments.
