Director of Veterinary Specialty Medicine
Are you ready to take the next step in your veterinary career—one that allows you to lead, mentor, and shape the future of specialty medicine while continuing to practice in your area of expertise? Cape Cod Veterinary Specialists (CCVS) is looking for a collaborative, forward-thinking Director of Specialty Medicine to guide our incredible team of board-certified specialists.
If you're passionate about patient care, love working alongside talented colleagues, and are eager to make a meaningful impact on the future of specialty veterinary medicine, we’d love to welcome you to our team.
A Leadership Role That Keeps You in Clinical Practice
As Director of Specialty Medicine, you’ll take on a 50/50 split between leadership and clinical work—giving you the opportunity to continue practicing the specialty you love while also leading, mentoring, and shaping the future of our specialty services.
You’ll be a key part of our hospital’s leadership team, ensuring high-quality, consistent care across all specialties while building and empowering a positive, collaborative culture. This role is perfect for someone who is eager to grow into leadership or for an experienced specialist ready to take on a vibrant and rewarding new challenge.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and support our growing team of board-certified specialists
- Maintain clinical caseload (50%) in your own specialty—Internal Medicine, Radiology, Cardiology, or another board-certified discipline
- Assist in recruiting and mentoring new specialists, helping build the future of CCVS
- Collaborate across departments to ensure seamless patient care
- Help shape hospital strategy, supporting innovation, patient care, and team development
Why Join CCVS?
At Cape Cod Veterinary Specialists, we understand that career fulfillment comes from having a supportive team, a healthy work-life balance, and the opportunity to grow in a career that truly excites you. That’s why we’ve built a hospital that prioritizes collaboration, mentorship, and continued learning at every level.
- Innovative & Collaborative Team: Work alongside specialists in Cardiology, Diagnostic Imaging, Surgery, Internal Medicine, Anesthesiology, Dermatology, Exotics, and more.
- Work-Life Balance: A flexible, balanced schedule with two clinical days and two administrative days per week.
- Education & Mentorship Focus: We encourage a strong culture of learning, from in-house technician training to rotating and specialty internships and residencies.
- Beautiful Location: Enjoy life by the water! Cape Cod offers coastal beauty, outdoor recreation, and a welcoming community—without sacrificing access to major metropolitan areas, like Boston and Providence.
What We’re Looking For
- Board-certified specialist (DACVIM, DACVR, DACVIM-Cardiology, or equivalent)
- At least three years post-residency experience in small animal specialty practice
- Leadership experience is a plus though we are willing to support the right person to learn and grow in this role!
Competitive Benefits Package
At CCVS, we believe in taking care of our team as much as we take care of our patients. Our benefits include, but are not limited to:
- Trupanion Pet Insurance – Company-paid for two of your pets
- Short-Term Disability – Employer-paid
- 401K with company match
- Comprehensive Health Benefits – United Healthcare options for Medical, Dental, and Vision

- Long-Term Disability options
- Generous Continuing Education support, including paid CE time off
- Licensing & Membership Reimbursement (AVMA, specialty dues, VIN, etc.)
