- Neurologist & Neurosurgery Specialist
Description
A RARE OPPORTUNITY IN PRIVATELY OWNED, CLINICIAN-LED PRACTICE
There are plenty of veterinary positions out there. This one is different. At Western Veterinary Center, we’re not looking for someone to fill a seat, we’re inviting a talented neurologist to step into a role where their voice genuinely matters, their expertise shapes the practice, and their patients receive the very best care this profession has to offer.
WVC is privately owned and clinician-led. Every decision made here is made by actively practicing DVMs who understand what it means to be in the trenches alongside you. There is no corporate layer, no distant board, no one-size-fits-all policy handed down from above. You will work hand-in-hand with the people who own this practice — people who share your commitment to medicine, your respect for the human-animal bond, and your belief that veterinary medicine can and should be practiced sustainably and joyfully.
This is a true ground-floor opportunity to define what neurology and neurosurgery look like at WVC. You’ll have the autonomy to shape your caseload, establish protocols, and build your service in a community that genuinely needs and values this level of expertise, and you won’t be doing it alone.
YOUR FUTURE COLLEAGUES
One of the most important things we can tell you about WVC is who you’ll be working alongside. Our team is small enough to feel like family, and experienced enough to truly elevate your practice. Currently on staff:
- Two board-certified criticalists with deep ECC expertise, acute neurological presentations like status epilepticus and acute intervertebral disc disease are already
- coming through our doors
- A surgeon, offering a natural collaborative partner for surgical neurology cases
- A board-certified cardiologist providing in-house specialty consultation
- A nutritionist joining our team soon, and an Internal Medicine specialist search underway, rounding out a full specialty service built for collaboration on complex, multi-system cases
This team doesn’t operate in silos. Curbside consults, collaborative case discussions, and cross-specialty problem solving are part of daily life at WVC. You’ll have the autonomy to run your service your way, with a team around you that makes the work richer, not harder.
A COMMUNITY READY FOR NEUROLOGY
Agoura Hills sits at the heart of a thriving pet-owning community in the greater Los Angeles and Ventura County area, an area that is actively seeking accessible, high-quality specialty neurologic care. Your caseload will develop organically from multiple strong sources:
- Direct transfers from local DVMs managing neurological emergencies in real time
- Scheduled referrals from area general practitioners seeking specialist consultation and workup
- In-hospital transfers from our own ECC and Surgery teams
- A community of pet owners who are engaged, educated, and invested in their animals’ health
This is an opportunity to build something meaningful in a region where you can make a real difference, and to do so with the full infrastructure of a modern specialty hospital supporting you from day one.
THE HOSPITAL
Our 15,000 sq ft facility was purpose-built for specialty medicine. You will not be working around limitations, you will be working with the tools you actually need:
- In-house CT and full fluoroscopy capability, including myelography
- MRI arriving on-site by end of year 2026
- 5 state-of-the-art surgical suites
- 12 treatment stations and 12 consult rooms
- Central O, gas, and suction lines throughout
- Dedicated endoscopy and ultrasound suites
- Lecture hall for team education and case rounds
OUR PHILOSOPHY OF CARE
At WVC, we believe the client is part of the care team. Our clients aren’t obstacles to good medicine, they are partners in it. We look for team members who understand that clear, compassionate communication with pet owners isn’t separate from excellent clinical care; it is excellent clinical care. Neurologic disease is frightening and disorienting for families, and the specialist who thrives here will be someone who finds meaning in guiding clients through that uncertainty, someone who understands that a client who feels truly heard is a client whose pet gets better outcomes.
Veterinary medicine is a team sport. The most skilled clinician in the world does their best work when they are surrounded by people they trust, supported by staff who are well-trained and motivated, and operating within a culture where no one is too proud to ask for help. That’s the environment we’ve built, and it’s the environment you’ll help sustain.
